Anyone know what is going on at KOD? They have ripped up the bottom part of the queue, cut open a new door and are placing a new wall in the old closed off section of arcade. They look to be placing something over the old ripped canopies that led to the top of KOD too.
What's Going On at KoD? Prep work?

A new dark ride would be the perfect attraction for that spot. Much better, at least, than using it as a station for yet another coaster like I keep seeing all over the Internet.

I would be very pleased to see a dark ride of any type in that spot.
Sally Corp. has done some awesome work (most recently on HW's Gobbler Getaway). They've got some pretty creative minds at that company. Give them a good budget and let them do their thing!
That type of ride appeals to everyone. Knott's recent additions have pretty much all been major thrill rides or Camp Snoopy attractions. There is a whole middle ground between those two that have been ignored.

A Sally dark ride is like what most everyone's been predicting and wanting, right? It'd definitely redeem the spot, though, especially after KoD's bastardization.

Latest rumor from Screamscape.com:
New Dark Ride Or Not? - Rumor - (7/11/06) Screamscape has heard that the work going on in the lower level of the Arcade building may just be a plan to built a bigger Laser Tag arena. There are still plans for something big upstairs however to take the place of Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, something that will drive traffic through this area to warrant a new Laser Tag attraction. Instead of a dark ride, one source seemed to think it could become a walk-through attraction, kind of a year-round Haunt style maze.
I just can't see this happening. It would take a lot of crew members, though there would not be too much up front cost except for set design. I don't really like the idea. I still am holding hope for a new dark ride.

^ I agree. Walk-through attractions just don't cut it in today's amusement park world. Seasonal ones like Haunt do work, but not a permanent one.
A good dark ride would be the best type of attraction to replace KoD. That would also give Knott's something unique.

^ First thing that came to my head too. Part of the enthusiasm of Haunt monsters also stems from the fact that it's only for a month, once a year. Have monsters do it full time and they'll quickly get tired out.
