Went to Knott's with a Friend the other day.
We aimed to renew his Platinum Annual Pass. *good for a full year from date of purchase*
Was told all passes are considered SEASON PASSES now and if we buy / renew it will expire Dec 31, 2010.
WHAAAA???

The reason given:
"Most of our other CF parks aren't open all year long and they only offer Season Passes, so now Knott's is only offering Season Passes Too."

REALLY? What A Farce!

Has anyone else run into this problem?

I do agree, DECLINING! I really though they where gonna keep a positive momentum going.

I always put Knott's above SFMM (not much) but above. I mean I never really compared them, as Knott's to me was not so much about the rides, but the atmosphere and food! SFMM, was rides rides rides. And More reason for Knott's to offer what they used to offer, Full Year Round Annual Passes! Becasue Their Competioin SFMM in this case Doesn't!
I get their other Cedar Fair Parks are not year round "CP" because of snow and all.
Yet come on Knott's Isn't Closed For The Winter.

My guess .. CF / Knott's said screw it! We just don't really care or give a cr*p!

^Every person who has gone to renew their mid-season APs. Personally I think it's obnoxious. The reason the other Cedar Fair parks offer season passes is because they're not open year round like Knott's. It's simply lame to try and offer it under a pretty feeble excuse of "Everyone else is doing it"... especially since it really doesn't apply to Knott's.

However, in their defense, other year round parks like Six Flags Magic Mountain (a pinnacle of great guest experience and guest service... /sarcasm) also have season passes instead of annual passes. However, SFMM doesn't operate every single day like Knott's. So at the end of the day, it is what it is, but I'm not a fan of it at all.

I had the same problem. Last June I bought a platinum plus pass and it expired july 1st. they wouldn't let me renew it for a discounted rate after telling me it would only be good until december and finally after I complained to the CF corporate office they offered me a season pass for the rest of this year for 60 bucks including parking to Knotts only which is good enough but I'm still miffed.

Not quite. SFMM offers a season pass but it is good for exactly 1 year from the date you purchased it regardless of when in the year you bought it. Knotts is essentially a "if you buy it in january you get it until december, if you bought it july you get it until december, and it costs the same" pass. Which is bullsh*t.

^Yeah, I personally have my pass expiring this weekend, and unless they decide to pro-rate for the rest of the year, I absolutely won't be renewing until later in the year when they finally offer some sort of discount (buy now and get 2011 sort of thing). Cause why should I pay full price if half the year is nearly gone! It's just a little obnoxious. Unfortunately when they made that change it was bound to happen. And I'm not surprised that they're probably getting a few complaints (well deserved) because of it. It seems they haven't given this much thought (or maybe they did and just said screw it).

It's not the end of the world either way... just a little annoying.

The lowest price of the year tends to be in February, for whatever reason. At least that was what was on the billboard off Beach Blvd (I drive past Knott's every morning on my way to work).
