We have listed some standards for posting below. Please use them as a primer for what is and is not allowed on the Community. The
Westcoaster Community Standards Multiple
Accounts • Registering multiple accounts on the Westcoaster
Community with multiple/fake e-mail addresses is strictly forbidden.
The Westcoaster Administrative Community will deem such accounts a threat,
and will ban all but one account. The remaining account will have its
IP and e-mail address logged for future administrative review. User Profiles • Your user profile is a way for other users to learn a bit about you, as well as find your contact information. Any misuse of this community feature such as; vulgar user photos, use of contact features to harass other users, and other inappropriate actions/materials will result in an immediate suspension of the users account, and the incident(s) in question will be reviewed by the Westcoaster Administrative Council. Signatures • Signatures may be up to four lines long (at the normal site resolution of 1024x768). Signatures may not violate any other guidelines listed in this publication of the Community Standards. The Westcoaster Administrative Council reserves the right to edit and/or remove all offensive material, as well as warn said user. Signature Banners • Signature banners should be no taller than 100 pixels, and no wider than 600 pixels. All images must be saved in a compressed file format such as JPEG or GIF. Images must load in under 5 seconds on 56k. Signature Banners are subject to all policies listed in this publication of the Community Standards. The Westcoaster Administrative Council reserves the right to edit and/or remove all offensive material, as well as warn said user. Avatars • Avatars may be up to 150x150 pixels. When creating your own avatar, please save it in a compressed file format such as JPEG or GIF. Images must load in under 5 seconds on 56k. You may choose these options within the Adobe Photoshop ‘Save For Web’ feature. All images are subject to all policies listed in this publication of the Community Standards. General Posting: Profanity • Posts containing foul language will be deleted immediately. The Westcoaster Community has built in censoring capabilities to censor out certain words. However, if a user is seen trying to defeat this by placing spaces between letters or using other symbols to defeat the system, the offending post will be deleted immediately, no questions asked. Repeat offenders will be warned and if the offense continues, the member will be banned permanently. Some words are allowed; only the most offensive words have been censored. The Community is rated PG-13. Personal Attacks • Personal attacks will not be tolerated on the message board. Blatant attacks will be removed, no question. However, the definition of a personal attack not falling in the "blatant" category will remain the discretion of the site administration and removal of such posts will also be at the discretion of the site administration. Criticism will be allowed, attacks will not. Use of People's Names and Statements • Use of persons names and statements will be allowed as long as they are not used for personal attacks. Reposts of statements made in printed media is allowed, however only in clip form or link form as it is copy written material. The criticism of a person's statements shall be allowed, again, personal attacks will not be tolerated. Staying on Topic • Initial posts should remain in the forum specified for that subject. Posts that violate this will be moved immediately, leaving a redirect to the new location in the old forum. Please try to remain mindful of where you are when you're posting a new message. Once a topic is running, the members are responsible for keeping the discussion on topic. Spelling and Grammar • The way in which you present yourself on an internet forum is very important. Westcoaster.net does not accept internet shorthand, gross violations of proper grammar, all-caps, or any other form of posting that makes it nearly impossible to discern what the user is trying to say. These posts will be immediately edited, and the user will be warned. We are very willing to help teach those who do not grasp the benefits of presenting their posts in a mature, readable manner. If you post in a somewhat educated manner, you will be accepted, and welcomed into the community wholeheartedly. However, continual stubbornness on the users part can/will result in flaming from other users. Flaming • A certain amount of disagreement, heckling, or outright flaming is allowed. But when said flames include previously outlined violations such as Personal Attacks, Profanity, and otherwise inflammatory dialogue, the Westcoaster Administrative Council will remove said posts immediately, and the user will be warned using the built-in warning capabilities of the forum software. All instances of flaming are at the sole discretion of the Westcoaster Administrative Council. Trolling • Trolling the forums is strictly forbidden. If you post for no other reason than to incite tension, your IP will be immediately banned. Blogging • Blogging is otherwise known as "posting without purpose." Please do not clog the forums with useless posts or topics that no one cares about. It is widely believed that some users blog for no other reason than to increase their post count. Remember; the Westcoaster Administrative Council has the ability to change your post count at any time. If we feel you are blogging to pad your post count, we will remove 50 posts from your overall count for every instance of blogging. General rule of thumb; if you're posting 50+ times a day, you're posting too much. Focus on the quality of your posts, not the quantity. Theme Park Employee Conduct: Proprietary Information • Members of the community openly identifying themselves as Theme Park Employees must abide by their terms of employment. Any "Non-Disclosure Agreements" must be followed and any "insider" information should be kept under wraps. Things that fall into that area would be: future plans, in-park incidents (past or present), operational details and other items that can be considered "proprietary information." This is to protect the respective park's intellectual property. Non-Employees are still allowed to post whatever they wish since the nature of their knowledge is not first hand and often not accurate. The Westcoaster Administrative Council openly works with the parks to remove, report, and provide information regarding information leaks. We keep records of those who openly identify themselves as employees. Should a park ask for that information on a specific user, or a range of users, we will fully cooperate. Linking: Links to Other Sites • Due to spamming in the past, all links posted to the community must be approved by an administrator until a user has sufficiently embedded themselves into the community. The current minimum post limit is 150 posts. Any user openly posting links to a personal coaster site, forum, or group for the sole purpose of leeching users will be warned using the built-in warning system, and the offending post/thread will be removed. The Westcoaster Administrative Council reserves the right to remove links, or ban users on a singular basis after reviewing the post in question at any time. Mature Material • Materials of an adult nature ARE NOT permitted in the forums at any time. This includes links to otherwise harmless material hosted on a site with an adult-themed URL that can be easily discerned from the URL in the browser Address bar. Nudity, partial nudity, and otherwise vulgar material will be removed immediately, and the punishment for posting such material will be harsh. Hot Links • Hot Linking to images is highly frowned upon. Leeching bandwidth from other sites is an offensive action toward the site in question. You may link to the site, the topic in which the image is posted, but you may not post an image directly to the boards unless it is hosted on server space the poster in question owns. Legal: Privacy Policy • The Westcoaster.net Community software will gather certain personal information for management purposes. This information will not be made available to any third-party organization for any reason. (see: Exceptions) COPAA • Due to Federal Law, the Westcoaster Community requires special authorization for those under the age of 13. For obvious reasons, we recommend that a parent review the community, and register their child for posting. Exceptions • Some personal information will be made known to Internet Service Providers (ISP) if we are having difficulties with a member(s). Information such as a users IP Address are not necessarily considered private information, but will be used only in further action taken against problematic users. Administrative Rights • The Westcoaster Administrative Council reserves the right to edit, remove, or move any post made to our community without question, or explanation. We also reserve the right to refuse service to a user, or users of our community. User Agreement: Terms of Service • By registering/posting to the Westcoaster Community, you agree to the above stated terms and regulations. Users are directly responsible for their actions in this community. Any violation of previously stated terms may result in administrative action. Reporting Violations: Please use the built-in “Report This Post to a Moderator” feature in the community software to report violations. You may report severe violations that require further administrative action by e-mailing the webmaster directly: james.disney@westcoaster.net
