A 100th Anniversary Stroll Through Knott's Berry Farm

Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, CA

Happy Friday the 13th, folks! You might think that we’d celebrate today by posting something spooky—especially since we’ve been high on the summer haunt updates (I know… times are strange) the past month. But we’re contrarians and are always up to the unexpected, so instead, today’s update is a photographic love letter to Knott’s Berry Farm and a pictorial celebration of its 100th Anniversary. (Also, there will be a good amount of spooky updates next week.)

The Knott’s 100th Anniversary Family Reunion has been going on for a couple of months now, and it wraps up over Labor Day weekend in just a few short weeks, before the best time of the year descends upon us. When we witnessed the 100th Anniversary Time Capsule Event in late June, we also spent some time in the park and just enjoyed the ambiance. Here are some photos highlighting that experience.

Ghost Town

The heart and soul of Knott’s Berry Farm is Ghost Town, of course, and it’s been spruced up in plenty of boysenberry purple to celebrate the park’s milestone. Ghost Town has received plenty of TLC over the years, and it’s definitely paid off for the park centennial. The classic western facades look awesome inside and out, and the little photo ops, unscheduled show moments, and Easter eggs scattered about celebrating both the park’s history and giving a nod to Ghost Town Alive! create a nostalgic, warm, and welcoming ambiance. Knott’s and Ghost Town will always go hand in hand, and it’s always a joy to stroll through.

Boardwalk

From a photographic point of view, the Boardwalk has the most to offer during this 100th Anniversary Family Reunion, with four of the celebratory photos located here. Knott’s has also reached back to its Roaring 20’s history to brought back a more old-timey feel to Charleston Circle (of course, we know that come Scary Farm time, this will be home to the park’s newest scare zone too). The debut of Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return the the Fair has been a welcome addition, and mainstays like Xcelerator, Supreme Scream, and Coast Rider continue to thrill (HangTime was not operating when we visited—in fact, it’s been down all summer). Everything just looks airy and relaxing and delightful, as a summer beach scene should!

Fiesta Village

Though not as overtly decorated as the other parts of the park, Fiesta Village still features the familiar boysenberry bunting and banners. An intimate area, it looks as colorful and lively as ever. And as the sun was setting during our foray through this area, the golden light really enhanced the eclectic and jubilant atmosphere.

Camp Snoopy

Unfortunately, by the time we made it to Camp Snoopy, the light was nearly gone. So here are the only two photos from our June 30th visit. Trust me when I say that Camp Snoopy was charming and whimsical as ever, and the thoughtful 100th Anniversary touches there were lovely.

That concludes this photo tour of Knott’s Berry Farm. If you haven’t already and are still interested, the 100th Anniversary Family Reunion runs through Labor Day, September 6th. The park looks great (we know… we’ve said that before… but it’s true!), and we can’t stress enough what a fantastic job the folks at Knott’s have done bringing out the best in the park and keeping it in excellent shape during the pandemic.

If you do visit, please keep healthy and safe and follow the applicable health regulations. And help everyone out by getting vaccinated if you haven’t already and are able to. It honestly will be key to helping us truly get past a crappy 2020 that continues to wrap its tendrils through this year, but it takes a large collective effort. If you already have, awesome, and thank you! Keep up the care and consideration for your fellow humans and theme park fans and people you interact with!
