Haunted Storage Yard: 2022 Review

Burbank Self Storage, Burbank, CA

Today’s haunted attraction review defies categorization. Though we’re visiting it at the end of October it is not a home haunt, because it’s not located on a residential property. It’s not a professional haunt either, because admission is free—even though its location is a commercial property. It is an elaborate Halloween display, but it’s not exactly a yard haunt, because one does technically walk “through” the premises to explore it. But it’s definitely not a haunted maze, for there are no live scareactors or winding layouts.

The Haunted Storage Yard is home to dozens of Halloween decoration figures.

So what is the Haunted Storage Yard? Well, it’s a lavish collection of Halloween decorations, sets, animatronics, lighting, and decor set up at the Burbank Self Storage facility that simply provides a delightful, family-friendly ode to Halloween, all at no cost to any curious fans who want to stop by. And it’s located at a nook at the front of the Burbank Self Storage center on the northeastern side of the city, near the I-5 freeway.

Guests who stop by will find an a modestly sized but extensively packed series of scenes featuring towering skeletons, dancing witch squads, a giant spider infestation, a dense graveyard scene, creepy phantoms, and ghoulish Halloween pumpkin creatures. They spring to life as guests walk by, triggered by motion or sudden noises like clapping. Instead of being scary, they’re spooky, with light startles that even young children can handle. And their activity adds an energetic liveliness to a display that’s technically about dead creatures and fiends.

There are some neat displays too, and lots of Halloween string lights!

During this late October time of Halloween season, the haunt enthusiasts can engage in multi-location stops, spending less time at each because the generally home haunt-centric attractions are smaller in scale and faster to explore. Be they mazes or yard displays, it generally doesn’t take as much time to explore each site than it does to go through a longer or more extensive multi-haunt attraction. Though it’s not a “home” haunt, the Haunted Storage Yard fits within this general scale of Halloween season exploration, and it’s a great addition to any Burbank haunted journey!

It’s an infestation of October fun at the Haunted Storage Yard!
